Word of Encouragement – 10/3/2018

Revival time is here! We are thankful for our revival team, Dick Sisk and Robert Brazier, who are coming to minister to us and lead us in this time of spiritual renewal. Below is a biographical sketch of Dr. Sisk. Dr. Dick Sisk was born on June 7, 1948 in Levelland, Texas. He has been married to Barbara of Crockett, Texas since August 18, 1967. They have four daughters and eleven grandchildren. Dick is an alumni of Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He holds a Master’s in Biblical Studies from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, and a Master of Divinity degree as well as a Doctor of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He has pastored in Lubbock, in Rockwall/Heath, in Dallas, in Flat, Texas and in Memphis, Tennessee. He also served as the Executive Director of the Youth Department of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas for four years. In addition, Dick has developed a men’s program and ministry for the Memphis Cancer Foundation and served as Vice-President/General Manager of Turpin Meadow Guest Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Dick became the pastor of Tarpley Baptist Church in the southern Texas Hill Country in May of 2008. In past years Dick was very involved in both Baptist Missionary Association life and Southern Baptist life, serving as a Trustee for the International Mission Board for eight years, president of both Shelby County (TN) Pastor’s conference and Dallas County (TX) Pastor’s conference, as well as involvement with the local associations where he has served. Dick has authored two books, the first being a devotional study of the book of Hebrews, entitled Hill Country Wisdom, A Cup of Coffee With Doc. His second book is entitled, Beyond the Plateau, Hope and Help for the Small and Medium Church. When asked about his hobbies, Dick says, “My greatest love is spending time with my wife, children, and grandchildren when able. Outside the local church, my interests are primarily in the area of traveling to mission fields to interact with and encourage missionaries and their families as well as native pastors and their families. I am an avid outdoorsman. I have a passion for big game hunting, fishing, and golf. I have been a licensed big game outfitter for Wyoming. I also enjoy woodworking, music, and song writing.”
